Skyhoundz Dog Disc Championship

Angela watches dogs fly through the air!

The invent of the frisbee can most properly be traced back to a group of Yale students who used metal pie tins from the Frisbie Pie Company to throw to eachother on campus.

Since then, this simple tin has morphed into a disc of all sizes and materials. Now, even man's best friend has caught on to the game!

Wallingford Parks and Rec in association with Skyhoundz invited dogs from across the area to compete to be the frisbee champ.

On Wednesday, July 28th, families unfolded their blankets on the grass of Doolittle Park to watch dogs take flight.

Families weren't the only ones watching. Several judges stood on the sidelines of the field watching every move. Dogs and their owners have 60 seconds and one disc (or frisbee) to score as many points possible. Points are distributed based on distance and airtime (if the dog catches the disc in mid-air).

For more information about dog disc championships, check out the Skyhoundz website or visit the Wallingford Park and Rec website for more activities in your area!
